Online bookings for a service business: fewer phone calls, fewer no-shows

What a good booking page does for a workshop or rental shop, and the confirmations and reminders that make customers turn up.

A phone that rings all day is a sign of a busy shop, but every call is a job interrupted. An online booking page takes the routine calls away: customers see when you can take them and book themselves in, day or night.

Only offer times you can actually honour

A booking page is only as good as the calendar behind it. Tie it to your staff’s working hours and closed days, and to the kinds of work each person does. Separate links for separate kinds of job, like a service, a rental or a fitting, keep the booking form short and relevant.

Confirm straight away, remind the day before

A confirmation email the moment the booking is made, with a link to cancel, turns a forgotten appointment into a freed-up slot. A reminder the day before catches the rest. Letting people cancel easily sounds backwards, but an empty slot you know about is better than one you don’t.

Put it where customers already are

Link the booking page from your website, your Google profile and your email signature. For rentals, embed it on your own website so customers never leave your brand to book.
